YouTube Goes Down In Worldwide Outage

YouTube experienced a major outage. Users across the world started to notice that the video service’s sites and mobile apps were down around 9:20PM ET, and all service remained unavailable more than an hour later. YouTube TV and YouTube Music were also unavailable affected by the service disruption.

YouTube has admitted the outage on Twitter. “We’re working on resolving this and will let you know once fixed,” the Team YouTube account says. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will keep you updated.” As of 10.35PM ET, they were still trying to fix the problem. At 11:01PM ET, YouTube announced it had restored service, bringing the drama to an end.

As with all Google services, it is extremely rare for YouTube to find itself in such situation. YouTube TV did have some service interruption during the last World Cup. One of the most famous YouTube service interruption was caused by the Pakistani government almost ten years ago while they were trying to censor an anti-Islamic trailer.
