Twitch Banned Tomorrowland Livestream Due to NSFW Material

This past weekend, the magical world of Tomorrowland was brought home to viewers around the world, thanks to the four channel livestream. While the world-renown festival is known for it’s positive energy and celebration of unity, it may not always be family friendly. Many home-viewers went to the official stream on Facebook and the Tomorrowland website, but some chose to watch Twitch.

Twitch, another popular streaming platform, has a strict terms of service (TOS) that the land of Tomorrowland didn’t quite meet. During the stream, the camera closed in on a female attendee wearing a somewhat revealing top, as she was sitting on a man’s shoulders. Several other NSFW moments were reported by viewers, all violating Twitch’s TOS. Because of this, the stream was quickly taken down by Twitch and the channel itself was banned.

Still, Tomorrowland doesn’t officially stream on the Twitch platform. For the past several years, Tomorrowland has only streamed the event on Facebook, YouTube, and their website. Whoever was in charge of the Twitch channel, also fell guilty to streaming copyrighted content. Streaming copyrighted music, along with the stream footage itself, violated Twitch’s TOC. The banned channel has since been given another chance to follow the outlined guidelines.

Be sure to catch weekend 2 at Tomorrowland this week (July 26-28) here!
