SJP and Katie Holmes Prove That Socks Deserve to Be Seen—Shop Our Favorites

In considering cozy, stay-at-home style, sweatpants and leggings are constantly in the spotlight. But, perhaps, we need to give the often forgotten sock its due respect. Not only is the wardrobe essential a functional and practical need, but it can also double as a luxurious treat, especially when knitted in an ultra-soft cashmere.

Quite a few labels are proving that the sock is more relevant than ever and that it even deserves a spot on the runway. At the Fall 2021 presentations, Simone Rocha added a dainty touch to chunky, lug-sole loafers by pairing them with bow-trimmed socks. Fun designs also ruled at Coach—from mushroom-covered styles to vibrant-colored socks worn bunched at the ankles.

The best parts about a hero sock: There are so many ways to wear them and it’s a trend we can all get behind during and after our pandemic lives. Some of our favorite street style stars are already starting to re-emerge and, of course, they’re bringing statement socks along for the ride. Katie Holmes made a case for the sock-and-sandal movement by styling a slouchy pink pair with chunky chain JW Anderson slides. And Sarah Jessica Parker amplified her maximalist style with a logo-covered Gucci pair and red high heels.

There’s no right or wrong way to wear them. So if you’re in need of some new cool socks, you’ll find our favorite ones ahead.
