SiriusXM Listeners Revolt After Electric Area is Replaced By Diplo Channel

Who listens to FM Radio anymore right? Most people listen to bluetooth, and many still listen to Satellite Radio. For those SXM listeners you have 3 choices – BPM for your housey remixes of pop tracks and the most mainstream of mainstage fair, Chill for tropical and deeper house, and Electric Area for the podcasts, livestreams, and the real dance music. Let’s be honest – you probably listen to Electric Area and you’re probably wondering where it is now.

Are you a fan of trance music like Group Therapy and ASOT? Well then you’re going to love this, because SiriusXM recently replaced Electric Area with a channel called Diplo’s Revolution. That’s permanently. Yes you trance lovers will have to turn to Diplo for your EDM listening needs. Now everybody’s favorite channel is bumping jungle beats and hip-hop inspired fare. Sure SXM claims the channel will still host ASOT and other radio shows but they have all been shoved out of the way and into obscurity where they will probably languish until they are moved to a premium paid channel.

Needless to say, listeners are PISSED. Perhaps Gareth Emery can sum it up better than anybody else. You can see the many listeners have vented their frustrations online. Diplo has responded as well.

While we wait for an official petition to begin circulating, you can give your feedback to demand the return of SXM Electro by filling out this form here. Make your voices heard!

Also: I haven’t had a radio show myself in any form for a year, so this ain’t some self interest bullshit, just the point of view of someone who listened to Area in the car pretty much daily.

Also, no issue with Diplo. I like Diplo. Just not as much as I like Electric Area.

I loved electric area as well! I had a show on the channel for many years. I think you might be interested in giving my station a chance. we are keeping may of the same dj shows and just diversifying the range a bit to differ from BPM, we still getting a groove, so just wait 🙏
