RuPaul's “Kitty Girl” struts onto Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, as the track — featuring The Cast of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, Season 3 — dances in at No. 18 on the list dated March 31.
The tune got a big boost from its prominent placement in the finale of the third season of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars on March 15, where the final four contestants on the show performed a new remix of the track. The quartet — Kennedy Davenport, BeBe Zahara Benet, Shangela and Trixie Mattel — all provided their own new verse on the song.
RuPaul's “Kitty Girl” scored a whopping 2,935 percent gain in digital song sales in the week ending March 22, according to Nielsen Music. All versions of the track, including the new All Stars redux, sold a combined 5,000 downloads in the week ending March 22. In turn, “Kitty Girl” bows at No. 8 on the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart.
In addition, “Kitty Girl” jumps 690,000 on-demand streams (audio and video combined) in the week — up 1,655 percent from just 39,000 the week previous.
Sales and streams of “Kitty Girl” were driven largely by the new All Stars remix. The original version of “Kitty Girl” was released on RuPaul's 2017 American album, which peaked at No. 12 on the Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart.
“Kitty Girl” is RuPaul's fifth entry on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, and highest peaking title so far. (The chart only launched five years ago, well after RuPaul made his Billboard chart debut back in 1992 with “Supermodel You Better Work].”)
