Ma$e has been taking more long-term hiatuses from the new music scene, but when he does come back, it brings some conversation as well.
The Harlem native just dropped a brand new track called “WhenNYWasNY,” and while most might think it will have some New York City sound to it, it’s actually the opposite.
On first listen, it seems like Ma$e might be trolling listeners, as he raps his East Coast-friendly verses over Tupac’s “California Love” beat.
Despite the ironic sound, and a subliminal message about the West Coast, Ma$e wants to make it clear that he believes New York is not what it used to be.
Check out the new track from Ma$e below, and let us know your thoughts.
