Throughout the past year, James Franco has been trying to prove just how big a fan he is of Lana Del Rey, with a tribute called Shades of Coola 100-page book called Flip-Side: Real And Imaginary Conversations With Lana Del Reyand now an interview for Magazine. Lana doesn’t expect Franco’s book to ever come out apparently, but the interview he conducted for Magazine will for a fact, and it will be featured in the upcoming fall issue.

In the interview, she clarified her comments regarding feminism from that infamous interview with Faderin which said that “feminism just isn’t an interesting concept.” Obviously, quite a few people took issue with her comments, with Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth in particular hitting back with some harsh words. Doubling down on her comments, Lana further explained her thoughts on the subject.

The luxury we have as a younger generation is being able to figure out where we want to go from here, which is why I’ve said things like, ‘I don’t focus on feminism, I focus on the future.’ It’s not to say that there’s not more to do in that area. I’ve gotten to witness through history the evolution of so many movements and now I’m standing at the forefront of new technological movements.

I’m not undermining other issues. But I feel like that’s obvious, like I shouldn’t even have to bring that up.

The new issue of will be out September 10.
