How Ticketmaster Will Check Your Vaccine Status for Future Concert Entry

How will concerts take place once a COVID-19 vaccine has been approved? Ticketmaster revealed plans on how future concerts will take safety precautions for entry.

Now that early results from Pfizer's vaccine show a 90% efficacy rate, concerts could return in the distant future. On Wednesday (November 11), Billboard announced Ticketmaster's plan to keep track of fans' vaccine status for admittance into shows.

The plan is still in development, but the company plans to use smartphones to verify each fan's vaccination status or COVID-19 test result in a 24 or 72-hour window using third-party healthcare and testing/vaccine distribution companies.

After a fan purchases a ticket, they will have to verify that they have been vaccinated and that it is up to date or test negative for COVID-19 between 24 and 72 hours prior to the event (pending local government health and safety guidelines).

After they received their test results, the fan would give permission to the lab to deliver the results to a health-pass company like CLEAR or IBM to confirm their results to Ticketmaster. If cleared, they will get their credential to access the show. This procedure would not give Ticketmaster access to fans' medical records.
