Feels Like a Steal: This Timeless Black One-Piece Swimsuit Is Anything But Boring
In my experience, the key to good style is finding wardrobe essentials that feel elevated. I don’t just mean acquiring high-quality basics like t-shirts and jeans that are meant to last, but seeking out versions of these staples that have thoughtful design elements. A perfect example is the plain white tank top; choose one with a more interesting neckline or fine rib knit for a top that’s more luxurious than basic. Additionally, a pair of black jeans or trousers with contrast stitching details can instantly make them feel like much more than just a pair of pants. And the same idea applies to swimwear.
A few summers ago, I was delighted when I came across this Tory Burch black one-piece swimsuit. It had everything I looked for in a wardrobe essential: a classic silhouette in a solid neutral color, in this case, black. It also features a modest cut which is an important factor for an everyday swimsuit, as I can wear it comfortably around family and feel good in it season after season. But this wasn’t your average black swimsuit. A touch of hardware on the straps (two silver clips, one on each side) gives the suit a sophisticated detail and lends a polished touch to what would otherwise be a relatively simple swim staple. The metal is heat resistant, too—if you were wondering. It only took a little something extra to set this Tory Burch suit apart from the overwhelming amount of black one-piece suits out there.
First offered by Tory Burch in 2018, the clip tank suit has returned every summer since, proving its timelessness in design and classic appeal. For the past few years, I too have returned to the suit, packing it for every getaway or beach trip, as I would a book and phone charger. It’s always nice to have a go-to swimsuit you can rely on year after year, and this one has been truly irreplaceable. Summers may come and go, but I like to think of this as my forever suit.
