Camilo Leads 2021 Latin Grammy Nominations With 10 Nods

The Latin Recording Academy announced the nominations for the 22nd Annual Latin Grammy Awards Tuesday morning.

The Colombian singer-songwriter and producer Camilo leads with 10 nods in some of the biggest categories, including “Album of the Year,” “Song of the Year,” “Record of the Year,” and “Best Pop Vocal Album.” He has two songs in both the “Song of the Year” and “Record of the Year” categories: “Vida De Rico” and “Amén” are up for “Record of the Year” while “Video de Rico” and “Dios Así Lo Quiso” are up for “Song of the Year.”

Among artists, the Dominican musician Juan Luis Guerra received the second-highest number of nominations with six nods overall, followed by the Spanish artist C. Tangana, who received five. Bad Bunny and Tainy were among artists with four nominations; Rauw Alejandro, J Balvin, Jhay Cortez, Juanes, and Myke Towers received three. Eleven women were nominated across the “big four” categories; however, they trail male artists in terms of most nominations received. Colombian singer Paula Arenas, Mon Laferte, and Nathy Peluso were among women with the most nominations, with four each.

Because of the pandemic, last year’s ceremony was a “reimagined telecast” that included a small, limited live show in Miami and taped performances in different parts of the world. This year’s show returns to MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and will air live on Univision on Nov. 18.
