In the middle of a series of tweets Sunday night (April 15), Kanye West dedicated a moment to an emotional memory involving Lamar Odom.
The rapper, who just returned to Twitter a couple days ago but had not tweeted until Sunday, shared a photo of himself with the former NBA star from 2016. “my favorite moment of walking into MSG to play Saint Pablo, I used to go to the hospital and play Lamar the album when he was learning to walk and talk again,” he wrote. “Then we walked into the arena together.”
Lamar was hospitalized after being found unconscious in a Nevada brothel in October 2015. In February 2016, he made his first public appearance alongside Kanye at an album launch event at New York City's Madison Square Garden.
“There was a moment when Lamar couldn't really express himself and he couldn't really talk, but he could hear what we were saying to him,” Kim Kardashian said in the episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. (Khloe Kardashian was married to Odom from 2009, until filing for divorce in 2013.) “Kanye really felt we can cure him through music, like we can get him to talk. He would go to the hospital and he would rap and sing, and I think Lamar started to get his function back and started to talk once he started to listen to a lot of music.”
She added that Odom had told her, “Kanye's music helped me so much. That's when I realized I could start thinking again and things were coming back to me and I could start articulating it.”
Besides the Lamar Odom memory, Kanye also tweeted about a 'Saint West' neck tattoo design, working with people who can “shift the consciousness” and more. See his updates below.
