Janelle Monáe Launches 'Dirty Computer' App to Reprogram Your Spotify Playlists

Janelle Monáe recently returned with her latest LP Dirty Computer and its accompanying narrative film, and now she’s launched a new app to reprogram your listening habits.

The Dirty Computer app creates a photo android ID for users, then offers to “clean” their music streaming libraries by erasing a selected Spotify playlist and replacing it with Monáe’s new album.

It mimics the narrative of the record and film, which details a dystopian world where rebel androids are reprogrammed and “cleaned.”

Access the app here — but be warned, once you agree to have a playlist “cleaned,” you won’t be able to get it back.

Monáe will be taking her new material out on the road later this year. See her upcoming North American tour dates here.
